X-ray imaging is a long established diagnostic tool in medicine that assists healthcare providers by providing more information to best guide your treatment and care.

WHAT IS AN X-RAY?

An X ray is a quick and painless procedure that is used to produce internal images of an area of the body.

X rays are an accurate and reliable way of obtaining helpful information in the diagnosis and treatment of many diseases, conditions and injuries.  X rays can also be used to monitor an existing condition.

All X rays are carried out by one our experienced team of CORU registered radiographers who will assist patients through all aspects of the procedure.

BEFORE YOU ARRIVE

Please tell us of anything that might cause you difficulties- for example if you are a wheelchair user, suffer limited mobility, are hard of hearing or have poor eyesight.

Women of childbearing age should always inform their GP and tell us at check in if there was any possibility that they are pregnant. X rays aren’t usually recommended if you’re pregnant, unless it’s an emergency.

WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT AT MY APPOINTMENT

Once your appointment has been scheduled and your referral received, our radiographer will meet you at check in for your appointment and will go through all the relevant clinical details and medical information concerning your X ray.

They will ask you to sign your consent for the X ray procedure to take place.

We may ask you to change into a gown depending on the body part being X-rayed.
You will be looked after by your radiographer throughout the whole procedure and they will be with you at all times.

The radiographer may take several views of the area specified by your GP. The procedure should take no more than 15 minutes.

RESULTS

Once the X rays have been taken, your X-ray images will be reviewed by our Consultant Radiologist who will write an X-ray report. This will then be sent back to your GP who will discuss your X ray results with you.

We aim to send the Radiologists reports to the referring GP within 48 working hours or if you require more urgent X ray reporting, please let us know as soon as possible and we will endeavour to arrange it for you.

PRICING

The cost of an X-Ray at Gorey X ray Imaging is €105 per body area.

ACCESS TO ORIGINAL IMAGES

Gorey X-ray Imaging  can provide you with the option to access your X-Ray images via a CD/disc copy, should you require this to assist with further medical care. Please let us know on check in if this is the case.

If you require your images on a CD, we will require your written consent to authorise the release of your personal data, and a member of our admin team will arrange this for you.
